How to Rest RCD Switch After all Lights Gone out in Flat?

by anthdiga » Mon Oct 23, 2017 2:33 pm

I turned on a light and all the lights went out in the flat. I went to reset the RCD switch but I am confused on how to do it... there is a big button labelled ON but stay in when pushed in? I turned off the second one to the left aswell and that has turned off the power to the boiler but once again I cannot push the big button in? I am used to switches so I must be doing something wrong?? Image attached in link.

None of those in the picture are an RCD

What you have is MCB (Totally different thing)
I notice the 5Amp one has tripped (The white one) to reset it you press in the big button.
If the button will not stay in that means the fault is still there. If this is the case, I would suggest you take the lamp out of the last light you switched on and try to reset the MCB again.
