How to stop my newly-painted door creaking?

Post by B81563 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:15 pm

Hi,
I have recently painted the my hallway doors and doorframes with a Crown white 'satin' paint - waterbased. It looks fine but now, whenever I open the doors they creak or crack loudly as if the paint on the door is sticking to the paint on the doorframe. The paint is abolutely dry- I painted several weeks ago.

Can someone advise how I stop this please? I had it before on a door and it never went away but I moved house before I got to worry about it. Ths time moving house isn't on the cards.
Thanks
Nick

If it is the paint rubbing there is no real long term solution except to sand back, ease (or plane off a bit) from the door and repaint. But a short term solution could be to rub a candle along the offending parts to allow a little "lubrication" between them.
