How would I replace basin taps with bath taps?

by carriedarmanin » Wed May 11, 2022 3:59 pm

I have already tried searching for this information, without success. I am no plumber, however my friend has offered to replace a pair of taps for me and I'd like to have all of the items ready for him when he arrives.

The plastic top hat nut holding one of my basin taps in place has snapped in two, meaning that the whole lot needs disconnecting then reconnecting. This seems like a good opportunity to replace both basin taps with the bath taps I've already got, since the flow of water runs too close to the back of the basin for my liking.

However, I'm aware that the thread is different and therefore what I'm considering doing might be scoffed at. I assume this is why I can't find any information about it.

Can anyone please advise me, what additional items beyond washers and top hat nuts are needed in order to do this job?

Or, is it just a bad idea? Thank you in advance.

Hi carriedarmanin,
If the holes in the basin are big enough all you will need is a pair of 15mm copper to 3/4” BSP flexible adaptors.
