Just back from a visit to the inlaws and have a problem with my potterton puma 100e combi. CH not coming on is a prob for my now v cold 7wk old son! Tried calling around 40 diff plumbers/specialists but no-one can help until next Wed! So would be grateful for advice.
Summary of prob - HW works, but when I turn the HW tap off, the boiler makes an almightly noise (as if it is about to explode!). The lock-out light then illuminates and it does no more. If I reset and repeat the same thing happens. If I reset and try the CH, the noise starts again until it locks out. The rads do not even start to heat up as this happens in under 1 min.
I've had a look at the pump (as one plumber suggested) and this appears to be ok (taken the top off, spun the nut on it and I don't think (!) there are any blockages).
Looked through this and other forums (although this one seemed to be the most thorough) and it would appear to be one of 2 other things -
1) The fan;
2) The wax capsule.
However, I have v little experience so no-way of telling if it is either or neither of these things. Is there any other tests I can do, or easy maintenance to try and get this working for at least a few days?
