I like to read in bed!

by sentoffagain » Thu Aug 28, 2008 8:44 am

I like to fall asleep reading in bed, however, this quite annoys my wife who doesn't like the lamp left on.

We have a wooden headboard unit so I was I was thinking of 'rigging' up a switch for her on her side of the bed (so as not to disturb me) so that she can turn it off. Obviously I might want to override her switct so I was thinking of something like the landing lights switched on either up or down stairs.

My layout will have to go from the socket to her switch to my switch to the lamp.

I have bought 2 X 1 gang 2way architrave switches but despite several attempts I have failed miserably. Does anyone have a simple to follow wiring diagram to suit my requirements?

Many thanks,

ericmark

Connect both switches together all terminals like for like on either switch where two terminals close together use one feed in other feed out. http://www.ericpalmer.fsnet.co.uk/Lighting.html may help and I am sure there is something in projects section too.

Or change the existing lightswitch to a infra-red dimmer type. Only drawback is you cant use low energy. It doesn't come with a remote but any standard remote can be programmed. Click through on the link below to seea remote then look round for the dimmer you like.
