Increasing Max. Weight Capacity of Bed

Postby Theris » Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:16 pm

Hi,

I have an ottoman style divan bed. The base of it is a piece of ply wood that is marked as having a capacity of 30Kg. For the next few months or so I need to store a lot of small but reasonably heavy items, there is the space (basically it's all I have available for storage) but maybe not the support.

How do I increase the capacity by at least 10Kgs? I figured 40Kgs has a decent safety margin. Is it simply a matter of nailing planks to the underside of the bed, if so what size and how many?
