installation of vertical radiator

Post by tonyk » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:24 pm

i want to install a vertical radiator in the kitchen, my standard radiator is supplied by the pipe work coming down through the ceiling. can i have the supply into the vertical radiator at the top so as not to have the pipes running down the wall

Should be ok, but remember heat rises, so the bottom of the radiator may never get hot, depending on the pressure from the pump. You'll be better taking the pipes to the bottom like an standard radiator, can you not chase the wall to hide the pipes ?

Old radiators for example in schools the flow enters the top and the return leaves from the bottom this is so that the water has to flow from top to bottom.

why get a large radiator if only half of it is going to heat up.

hope this helps
