Installing an electric radiator

Post by thickiebrickie » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:34 pm

How do I install an electric Myson Finesse radiator to the mains electric. The instructions say that it has to be connected to the fixed wiring of the house via 5 amp max cable outlet. It has come with a 2 point plug attached to it, why cant I fix a standard plug to it and plug it in to a normal socket.

2 pin plug?

It should be hardwired using either a Switched Fused Contection or a Fused Connection Unit(FCU). Rated at 5A.
The flex from the rad will be terminated load side of FCU and the spur feed will be terminated supply side of FCU.
This will mean taking a spur from a socket-outlet on the ring final or radial socket circuit or breaking in to the circuit underneath the floorboards but all joints unless crimped or soldered must be accessible so sockets usually a prefered choice.
