Issue With UPVC Handle Replacement and Removing Rod

Hi,

I'm having issues replacing a defective handle on my upvc window. The handle became defective so I bought a replacement. The handle had became detached from the rod that goes into the window. Unfortunately, the rod is now stuck in the window, I think it's rusted into the mechanism. I've tried wd40 without any luck.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi,
You have no option but to get the shaft out - without damaging the closing mechanism. More wd40, a light tap with a hammer to break the rust/corrosion and pull out. You may need mole grips to grip the shaft.
