I have just had my garage roof re-covered with roofing felt by a tradesman.
I was surprised to see that some of the sheets running across the garage had been joined and were not in a single sheet. What I mean is that if the garage is 10 feet wide then he has used an 8 foot length and added a 2.5 foot piece with a 6 inch overlap.
He tells me this is standard practice. If the roll runs out he cuts a piece off the next roll and adds that to reach the edge.
It doesn't look like good practice to me but am I worrying unnecessarily please?
Think of it this way. A standard roll is 8 metres long, if the roof is 4 runs at 6 metres each it doesn't make sense to buy and waste two metres on each roll.
