Kitchen wall units - minimum gap to ceiling?

by JonW » Sun May 31, 2009 9:05 pm

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me the minimum gap for standard kitchen wall cabinets from the ceiling?

I assume the answer may differ depending on brand of cabinets, but I'd appreciate any guidance/opinions.

I want to fit the cabinets as close as I reasonably can to the ceiling due to the gap between (slightly higher than usual) worktops and the wall units being quite restricted. I also intend to somehow fill whatever gap is left, flush with the actual cabinet body front edge.

Thanks in advance,

JonW,
Most ceilings are not level or even but you can fit the units as close as the mounting fittings will allow.

Thanks for the reply, stoneyboy, I understand your point but, if the ceiling were level, how close do the mounting fittings allow?

JonW,
Depends on the quality of the fittings but you will be lucky to achieve a gap of less than 25mm

JonW,
If you google "isaac lord" they keep some which I have found reasonable.
Don't be tempted by B&Q ones they are useless with very little adjustment.
