I'm redoing my kitchen at the moment and have a question about the waste pipe.
In the corner of the room is the main waste pipe coming down from the bathroom. The connecting fitting looks like it has been bonded, so I doubt I can get it off (not tried), my only other solution is to make use of the current fitting.
At the moment the adjoining pipe just sits inside the fitting and easily comes out, it has no rubber seal to compress the pipe and hold it in. It looks like a 40mm pipe.
Where can I get a new seal or fitting? Should I try to take the existing fitting off?
That looks a right mess, it must have been leaking and someone has smeared silicone all over the place. I would take the fitting off, and replace it. Can I suggest taking your photos into a proper plumbers merchants (not a DIY store) they should be able to provide you with a replacement soil pipe boss, as it's called. That way you won't be disturbing anything till you've got the bits.
