Large (60x60mm) External Quadrant Drip Moulding source???

by RussA » Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:51 am

I need to replace 30-40m of rotted external quadrant drip moulding, but it needs to be appx 60x60mm (preferably with a drip-lip) but cannot find anything even close to this size. Any suggestions of suppliers (or alternative ideas)?
Thanks.

Hi russa
Suggest you dispense with the moulding and fit flashband directly under the rendering and onto the roof. Don't forget to prime the surfaces before trying to stick on the flashband.

Thanks for the reply. The fact there is a roof shown is a bit misleading, its a very small piece of roofing over a ground-floor window, and is not typical of the majority of the use of the moulding; the moulding extends completely around the house (at about floor level on the first floor).

I need to replace the old moulding with something very similar (and it's a 120 year old house and I want to keep it true to the original fabric of the house as much as possible).

Hi russa
In that case you will probably have to buy 75mm square section and have it machined to the required size and shape.

Yes, I'm thinking that - as I can't find the moulding "off the shelf". Any suggestions how to get this machining done (I don't have the tools to do this)?

Thanks.

Hi Russa
Try searching on line for hardwood telegraph poles - they are available as 125/150 diameter which you could quarter to give the size you require.

Good idea, anyone know how I can get suitable sized wood milled to the right size/shape?
