Lath and plaster ceilings

Post by schnoo10 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 2:18 pm

Hi,

I have just bought a 1930's house which has lath and plaster ceilings. My question is whether to skim straight over them or to screw new boards to the joists then skim??

Also how much would the second option cost for a 27ft by 12ft ceiling?

Hi schnoo10,
Depends what condition ceiling is, in my experience, lath plastered ceings usually knackered! So if that's the case over board it, if you DIY, it should cost you between 90-100 pounds.
Good Luck
