Hello I'm laying a small (3m x 3m ish) patio with square 45cm slabs, will also surround with rounded (&deeper) 60cm edgers too. Simply should edgers be laid before, after or same time as slabs are laid? Was thinking of either laying patio in full, then surround with edgers Or Lay 1 length of edgers, start patio against this length & lay edgers gradually after enough slabs are laid create length. Thanks in advance,
Hi sully Provided you have a concrete base larger than 7 slabs + 2 edging blocks, lay the slabs first then the edging. This will save having to cut strips off the slabs. If you are laying the slabs on a soft base the same applies but you should have a concrete strip around the outside for the blocks. Regards S
Hi Stoneyboy, Thanks for that. I'm planning to be laying 5 x 6 slabs (45cm sq) onto dug out soil/garden, starting with weed membrane, then MOT1 layer, then the pre-mixed slablayer (Wickes) then the slabs. Wasn't sure to start with laying a length of edging blocks (60cm each), 1st from dwarf wall, then patio slabs. Or 1st lay patio slabs & then lay deeper edging blocks? As a DIY project it doesn't have to be perfect, just flat enough (with 1:100 run off) for small hot tub. What do you think? Thanks
Hi sully, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you the DIY Doctor system has stopped notifying replies. There is little point in installing edging blocks on mot - they will keep moving. Regards S
