Leaking Open Waste Pipes Under Sink in Temporary Accommodation

by Lmungrue » Wed Mar 01, 2017 9:00 pm

I have just moved into temporary accommodation hence I do not have the means to get a plumber out, there are two open pipes under my kitchen sink which leak water each time I use the sink??? One which is like at the top and is small and thin and sort of points upwards and the other is down the bottom just above the bend and is horizontal and a lot wider.
I know one pipe is meant to have a washing machine plugged in, hoping to get my second hand one delivered tomorrow, but I'm unsure why I have two of these pipes and which one I use as the waste pipe for my washing machine? And how do I stop the water leaking from the other one??

Hi Lmungrue,
Use whichever tapping fits your washing machine hose and look for a bung or cap to seal off the other tapping stick it in place with silicone mastic.
