Leaking waste connection on basin

Post by woody62 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 8:17 am

I am fitting a new basin and have used a 32 mm waste connection suitable for either push fit or solvent weld. The pipe connection to the basin seems very slightly loose and is leaking. The screw wont tighten any further but the waste pipe is still loose What am I doing wrong? The basin was from the bath store and the waste connections from wickes

What's the rubber washer/seal like in the trap/connector - good condition ?

If it's a 32mm trap, 32mm pipe with the washer in place it should be a problem - should be a simple job.

Check the rubber seal

check the make of the waste pipe. i've noticed that polypipe 32mm waste will not fit into marley connections, for example, as the polypipe is thicker. you could try changing to a thicker walled 32mm pipe such as polypipe. this should help compression ring to make a more snug seal in the waste outlet.
