Leaking waste pipe

Post by spi » Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:49 am

The outside soil waste pipe is leaking at one of the joints.

I live in a 3 storey house so havent been up to have a look at the problem in full yet.

Would it be possible to fix the problem by applying some solvent cement or will it be more complicated?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you specify what type of pipe it is, Plastic or Cast Iron? And what type of joint it is.
If plastic you should ideally dismantle the joint and replace any perished seals.
If CI, you could try bitumen mastic but you need to remove the original sealing compound and dry the area thoroughly first. Leave for a few hours for the sealant to set.
