Leaving 50mm void for bathroom insulation?

Leaving 50mm void for bathroom insulation?

Doing a bathroom, battened in front of brick (cavity)
3 x2 CLS using a eps backerboard.
Insulation wise do I need to leave a 50 mm void, given that my studs plus gap is 70mm.
Or is that for single brick external wall?
