Lighting circuit

by skybluekev » Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:56 pm

I've been living in my house for about 8 months, but recently checked out the consumer unit and realised there are 2 wires each coming from the MCB's for the lighting circuits. As i was aware, i thought lighting circuits were radial circuits, could this mean they are ring circuits? What other reason could this be? Thanks, Kev

It is common when short of a way in a consumer unit to combine lighting circuits to free up an MCB. Normally 6 amp max so no real need for ring main but maybe on a long run with discharge lamps the volt drop was too big?
