Lights in kitchen problem

by tonyandlena » Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:44 pm

I have a two switch dimmer in my kitchen, controlling two sets of ceiling lights. In the light switch, I have two sets of black and red wires. One set of lights has stopped working. Have checked the lights, they all work. I do not seem to have any power to the black wire. To test the light switch unit, I swapped the wires and that worked for the lights. So the problem seems to be no power to the black wire leading to the lights that do not work. The whole lighting system is only a year old.

sounds to me like the you need to link the common feeds in the top of the switch and put the other cables in the L1 terminal. when the dimmer is switched on the cable will become live because its a switched line. this will switch the lights on
