lights on stairs

i would like lights set into my stair treads how would i go about this i have the stairs with walls iether side would it be expensive and could you give me any idear what is involved so if i get an electrician i can sound like i know what i am doing thanks

Hi, presume u have access to under stairs and can see individual 'risers' and not plastered board?
to cut in even smallest LED lights would severely weaken staircase and compromise your fire escape route so if you later wanted to sell surveyor would be unimpressed!
however you might like to look in a good lighting shop/catalogue for a set or 2 of fibre optic lights which have a light box to go under stairs & lots of pinpoint ends which only reqr. tiny holes in risers, regards SPARX
