Lintel for Staggered brickwork return

by Mick Dewane » Fri Apr 17, 2020 4:55 pm

Hi. We are going to be moving in to a property, that we would like to open up the rear load bearing wall. The problem is that the brickwork has a 250mm/10inch staggered return. Please see the drawings. The question is can a steel Z shaped lintel ( Preferred ) or a H shape lintel do the job required. Or is there a better method of doing the work, to meet Building regulations. Thank You.

Photo's will not load. Above is rough outline of the building. 5.650 metres wide. Opening to be 3.950 metres wide. By taking out the Z shaped Brickwork in the centre. There is already a Conservatory built on the outside, of this exterior wall shape.
