LOFT BEAM SPLIT

by smirnoffkopite » Sat Dec 04, 2010 12:15 pm

Hi,

Hoping someone can offer some advice....

I've noticed in my loft today one of the main wooden beams is quite badly split, all the way through. there is a gap of approx 3-4mm. there is also a lot of light coloured patches on the wood, not sure if that means anything.

does this sound normal or with such a split in a main beam does it need something doing to it?

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

smirnoffkopite,
Find a local carpenter/roofer who specialises in cut roofing and ask them to give you advice.
