Hello All,

We have moved into a new home (new to us] and found log burner had aluminium tape between log burner and the closure plate.

I’m assuming there is a piece of solid pipe missing between the stove and the closure plate or that piece of pipe has been pushed back up in.

Every time I even look at it more vermiculite comes pouring out so nervous to poke around too much.

Any idea what has happened here please?

The bottom of pipe left looks a bit rough so maybe was cut off or corroded away but I’m betting pushed inside (maybe that’s not possible with male to female connection?

Any help much appreciated and here are some pics
