Makita EM2600 Petrol Strimmer Issues

Post by little_geoff » Mon Jul 25, 2016 6:59 pm

Hi Guys,
I've managed to pick up a very cheap Makita petrol strimmer on ebay, it was listed as "spares or repairs" but i wanted to give it a shot and try and repair it myself but i am struggling to find what model carburetor it has.
As the title say, it's a Makita EM2600L Strimmer, model 1E33P
I know it's a Walbro WYC carb, but i can't find any other part numbers on it.
The chap i purchased it from said it was cutting out, and had previously been repaired, I've had a look, and it looks like the previous repair was just using generic gaskets, which are leaking,
I only paid £26 for it, so i am looking at it as an opportunity to learn about small 2T engines, so it's not a massive loss if it doesn't run..
Anyway, i though i would ask to see if anyone had any experience of these units, and could give me any advice?

Thanks,

why not use a gasket sealant with a good heat range.

simply because a genuine replacement set is about £5-£8, and the "pulse" hole is only about 1mm across, so not really worth it.
