marble in fireplace

I want to fit marble on the inside of the fireplace, my own design.
But I dont know if it will crack due to direct heat it is 20mm thick,but I havent had much experience of marble so any help is much appreicated

Hi... I am surprised you had to post this question in a forum. I googled for 2 minutes and yes you can as Marbles and granites are the best heat resistant materials on earth.:
