Mould around window frame

by NickynDebz » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:04 pm

:? I am about to move into a new bungalow, but have a query about the sealant around my window frame. There is mould growing on the sealant, and I have the sealant itself, but do I need to take the mouldy sealant off or do I leave it on and put the new stuff on over the top?

NickynDebz,
If there is space to add more sealant, treat the existing with neat chlorine, wash and dry, apply another layer on top.
Or, cut out a wedge of the existing sealant to remove the mouldy bits and apply fresh sealant.
end

New won't stick to old and it certainly won't stick to mould.

Take it all off and reseal.

Cheers
