Multi locks on UPVC doors

Post by mmullen » Fri Jun 01, 2007 12:37 pm

Hi, My son has just informed me that our external kitchen door is unlockable, the door has a standard mortice lock with additional hook locks operated by lift the door handle upwards.

When unlocking the mortice lock aand then depressing the door lever down all that happens is that the mortice lock retracks but we cannot dis-engage the hook locks as the handle on the door moves quite freely.

Can I by taking of the door handle mechanism and spindle release the hook locks or do I need a tradesman?.

Hope to hear from you soon

Many Thanks
Mike.

Taking off the handle will not allow you access to the internal mechanism of the lock which sounds like it has slipped Mike. We think it best in this situation to look for a "door & window doctor".
