New Close Board Fence with Old Posts?

Post by P4UL » Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:46 pm

Hello,

The boundary to the rear of my property is in urgent need of a new fence. There are currently concrete posts sunk into the ground with very old arris (?) rails and panels nailed to them.

I would like to have a nice close board fence but am unsure how I should proceed. It would be nice to replace the arris rails with new but that would be impossible without replacing the posts so I was wondering if there was a work around I could use?

Also, how do I attach the gravel board to the concrete posts?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the noddy questions.

Paul.

Hello,

I found the answer to my first question on the second page of the forum.

Just leaves my question about the gravel board. I assume I use the holes at the bottom of the post and bolt a piece of wood to it and then bolt or nail the gravel board to that?

Thanks,
Paul.
