Hi. i have a turn of the century terraced house and want to have a new wooden front door and frame put in, and of course its an odd size, but don't know who best to aproach? Advice please.
All our local joiners choose to fit doors constructed by a local carpenter who has had to diversify into joinery and shop/bar refitting as well as running a small DIY shop, where he makes high quality doors and patio-door sets, using superior mortice & tenon joints. Most over-the counter exterior grade doors use just dowel joints. Factor-in the unavailability of seasoned wood, and you really must go for the best you can find, and apply preservative as reccommended.
So go to a reputable joiner, and see examples of his work.
