new light in the kitchen

replacing old light fitting in the kitchen for my father in law, now slightly baffled new fitting is as per norm 1 green & yellow. 1 brown. 1 blue. hanging from the celing are the following 1 blue. 1 red and 3 black twisted together wired up as thought was correct lights came on but very dim. something not quite right.

Hi , 'something not quite right!' read 'Everything not right!'.....
Wiring colours from ceiling not possible combination, there must be other cores tucked up in ceiling! either brown or yellow or more reds, it appears you have your new light connected across sw. lines, have another look and see what else is there, will try to help if more info available , regards SPARX
