I'm Dan; I'm new to the forum and DIY to be honest.
I was wondering if someone can help me, I have just moved into a new build with my girlfriend and we need to get some curtains up as soon as possible. The ones we like are on the QD stores site but they don't have any curtain poles.
Can someone advise me how to measure up for poles and how I know how long the curtains will hang?
Assuming the curtains are to sit in front of teh window rather than in the recess, the pole should be 400mm longer than the width of the recess. This will give you 200mm either side of the window to "bunch" up the curtains when open.
The pole site 100mm above the top of the window recess and the curtains measured from there to the floor.
Some curtains will have a top fringe which means they hang on the pole a little down from the top of the curtain, others have loops or rings at the very top of the curtain. Measure accordingly.
