New toilet seat wrong shade

by pttomlins » Sun Jun 15, 2008 9:50 am

I have just purchased a new toilet seat which is solid oak but is very light in colour. I would like to change the shade to very dark in colour! I do not do much DIY hence I haven't a clue what to do1 IThe toilet seat is not very shiny but I imagine it will have to be water proof. Can any one help with my problem, remembering I need simple language. Many thanks for any suggestions.

you could sand the seat to remove all varnish, then revarnish or stain using a good quality product. however there are no guarantees that it would work and that you'd get the desired colour.

frankly you are better off buying a new one in the shade that you want.
