Noisey & venting over into CH header tank

Post by PERKINS » Mon Apr 06, 2009 10:26 pm

When my CH & HW are on together after a while there is a large amount of banging in the airing cupboard and the vent pipe is discharging into the header tank and overflowing outside there is also a large amount of air from the vent next to the cylinder. The pump is running and the 3 port valve is new and ok. This happened originally in HW mode only but
now happens with both on. Any ideas.

The banging is water boiling in the heating system. Either the boiler thermostat is failing or if the noise happens immediately after the heating has switched off, then the pump overrun circuit is not working.
