Noisy Central Heating Boiler

Post by duncan1960 » Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:01 pm

My wall mounted Ideal Classic NF50 CH boiler (1992) has started to make a clonking noise, it seems quite random in frequency but has gradually got worse over the last couple of months. Someone told me that it could be sediment in the boiler chamber. Is this possible and if so, is it curable without replacing it?

Hi Duncan,

A flush out of the system will sort sediment perhaps with a cleaning agent first then inhibitor.
But I suspect the pump - take large screw out of middle ( Boiler off + rags cos of a little H2o) check spindle moving ok.
