Old Central Heating System Mystery Part That Needs Replacing

by diy_monkey » Fri Nov 15, 2013 8:35 pm

Hi All,

I have a mystery part that has sprung a leak! It's attached to the central heating system near the boiler. The system is very old with a back boiler in the lounge.

Cheers, Alex

Hi
The part in your photos is an old safety valve. these are no longer used, and can be removed. I can't be sure from the photo, but I suspect it's 3/4 so could be replaced with a 3/4 BSP brass plug.

Thanks proptech, I've managed to swap it for the part you mentioned and no more leaking. Only cost£1.98!
