open fire

by richard willacy » Wed Feb 04, 2009 1:14 pm

this weekend i had my gas fire taken out hoping to find the old fire still in but when the fire was taken away there was only a big hole where the coal fire used to be, there's no fire bricks/grate but the chimney is in good shape and the chimney is capted,

this is what i want to to 1st i'd like to put a cast iron multi fuel basket in where the fire used to be but im going to have to build some kind of fire wall so the fire dosen't damge the other wall, or failing that i'd like to install a wood burning stove into the opening, what you think richard
