Outside Light Trips Electric After Changing it?

by mark2kooki » Mon Dec 03, 2018 2:24 pm

Hi

I had an outside light fitted years ago but never used. Anyway i replaced it with a new one. This one is different as the switch live was part of the light but this one isnt.

Followed a diagram online and it only worked whe the hallway lights where turned on.

so the mcb had a spare light fuse so i have rewired it direct and it now trips the mcb.

Have followed the diagram that is enclosed so i am very confused

Your drawing appears to be correct. With that in mind your wiring or your connections must be in error.
As anyone offering advice like myself is sitting at a keyboard it is not possible to physically see what it is that is wrong, so I can only suggest you check your connections again, also make sure that when securing and "lids/covers" you check to see that they have not trapped or squashed any cables, as this can cause in a short circuit.
