Painting Exterior wooden door

by BRU » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:45 pm

Hello,

I have an untreated wooden panelled back door, which has faced the elements.(It may have been treated previously but looks pretty raw now) It's in pretty good nick but the middle horizontal beam has a few cracks in, but not big enough to fit your finger nail in.

I want to paint it gloss red, what preparation do I need to do to get a good finish?

Thanks

Bry

Hi

Have you had a look at the DIY Doc projects yet? There is a project on Woodwork Preparation for Painting: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/prepwood.htm that may be of some help to you

Regards
