Patch Repairing a Cement Plastered Wall With Lime Plaster?

Post by Jsmithy88 » Sun Oct 23, 2016 12:35 pm

Hi guys

Am looking for advice, any lime plasterers out there? My property built in 1830 has lime plastered walls throughout with the exception of one room which has been plastered with sand and cement and a finishing coat of gypsum. Some of this plaster has become damaged due to leaky guttering externally, so I have fixed that but am wondering if I can patch the wall up with lime instead of sand and cement again - I would hack damaged plaster off back to brickwork.

Is there any consequences of partially plastering this wall with lime? Can the two materials (sand and cement and lime) sit next to each other perfectly fine? I don't want to have to do the whole wall as it is only two m2 that needs doing.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers
