Patio door sill

Post by smorg » Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:52 am

Sorry if this is not the best area,

I have just started to try and fix my patio door sill and underframe, ants last year were getting in and it is now damp as well. At the edges i have found that the wood is totally rotten through on the inside of the house area. Oustide is generally fine. The rot goes the full width of the door at the extremities. Can i get any product to fill this void or will i need to gain access and replace the wood fully.

Many thanks in advance fro any advice.
Any futher Q's please ask.

smorg,
You could dig out the rotten wood, apply a wood hardener and then fill with a 2-part filler. This will be a bodge but will solve the problem for a while (the adjacent timber will probably rot).
The only sure solution is to have the frame out and replace the cill.
end
