Permeable membrane to sit between gravel and soil, behind a low retaining wall

Post by katieamywebb » Thu May 28, 2020 11:11 am

Hello,

We've recently had a low (5 bricks high) retaining wall built in our garden, with a 1m deep bed of soil behind it. We're planning on filling directly behind the wall with gravel, but from online research I think we need to put a permeable membrane between the soil and the gravel, to stop the soil just mixing in. Is this correct, and if so, is this a specific product that's different to a weed control membrane? Would anyone be able to recommend a specific product?

Many thanks! :)

Hi katieamewebb
Not quite sure why you want to fill behind the wall with gravel but you could you geotex fabric to isolate the gravel from the soil.
