Pilot light keeps cutting off when in shower after 3 mins

Post by Jenn » Thu Jan 03, 2008 9:39 am

Hi

We have a Worchester Bosch 230 combi boiler and recently when the shower is being used the pilot light keeps cutting out. We are able to reset it but it goes off again when the shower is switched back on. The heating is working ok. The shower does stay hot sightly longer when the heater is on at the same time, but still cuts out after a while.

Can anyone give me advice on what the problem may be and the costs involved in getting it fixed?

Many Thanks

Sounds like the boiler is overheating, this will cut the pilot off.
It could also be a dirty or poor pilot, as when the fan runs it may lift away from the thermocouple.

It's best to get a Heating Engineer out to take a look, and prices do vary alot. Get someone out that does free callouts and estimates. They'll give you an estimate of what it will cost to repair.

i agree with the heating engineer this is not something you can fix yourself, try checking if the radiators heat when the hot water is running by itself - may be a faulty diverter valve
