my sister in law has a condenser combi boiler and has had an electric shower which has not been working for some time now it is not giving hot water she says thats about the third shower in 5 yrs does the combi maybe have something to do with why the showers are not lasting

There is unlikely to be any connection between the boiler and failing shower. Far greater possibility is the choice of electric shower. Some are very poor quality and have very short life spans.

Water hardness can cause problems too.

check your water pressure as well - electric showers need a good supply.

your local water authority may be able to help if you don't know how to check your pressure.
