Problem Removing Cartridge From Bristan Basin Mixer tap

Postby Grandadchris » Fri Aug 30, 2019 7:24 pm

I am in the process of replacing the 40mm cartridge in a Bristan basin mixer tap. I successfully removed the lever then the shroud and the nut underneath. But the cartridge would not lift out. I used a bit of persuasion with a pair of grips then it suddenly come out - well sort of. It came out in 4 bits leaving a white plastic piece at the bottom of the tap which will not shift.

Limescale buildup is all I can think of. I am going away for a couple of weeks and putting some lime scale remover around it. Hopefully it will loosen it. It should just lift out, shouldn't it?

Anybody have any other ideas?

Hi Chris

I have exactly the same problem right now - did you ever solve this ? It would be really helpful to know how to get the plastic base out

Thanks!
