Problems putting up shelves

Post by malkaul » Sun Jan 25, 2009 4:23 pm

Hi,
I am a bit of a novice as you'll be able to tell from the following question. I am having some trouble drilling into an internal brick wall so that I can put up some shelves. I can only drill about 12" before the drill will not go any further. Can anyone tell me why this would be and how I get around i? My drill is 18v and I am using a 6mm masonry bit.

Thanks

Mal

Hi, yes I did mean 1\ 2" but the \ disappeared when I posted.

I only have a drill driver with no hammer action, but I have managed to borrow a decent drill that does have one now so I'll be giving that a go later on.

sounds like your drill isn't up to it. don't forget to check for pipes and cables before happily drilling away!
