Questions to ask when Buying a House with an Unfinished Loft Conversion

by banjo1975 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 8:37 pm

Hi all,

First post here and I am after some advice on a potential house purchase...

The house in question is basically one big snagging list, a lot of work has been done but everything needs finishing off, skirting, garden, bit of paint here and there....(the current owners have twin babies so this may be the reason for the slow down in progress).

The house has had a partial loft conversion, a floor has been put in, velux etc, no staircase, just a 'permanent' wooden ladder. No more detail I'm afraid as only had a quick look last week, but now considering a second viewing as I believe with a little more investment it could return a profit.

What sort of things should I be looking for/asking about to assess whether the conversion to date has been done so an acceptable standard..I'm happy to finish off the work, but obviously don't want to buy if there is a chance of the roof caving in!!

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers!!

I'd ask to get a survey done.
