radiators heating when hot tap turned on

by slippy » Tue Aug 11, 2009 10:17 am

Hi , just moved into a property , and have recently discovered the radiator in the bathroom,( which has no rad thermostat) heats up when we run the hot tap . It's a combi boiler , potterton lynx 2 , not sure how old it is , the CH is set to off just now during summer, any ideas , possibly diverter valve ? and any idea the cost to repair and is it a diy job ?

Yep - diverter

Looking at around £150 to buy.
The price of fitting depends on who you get.

Never fitted one to a Lynx, so can't say how easy/difficult it is. If you have basic skills of knowing what to turn off, what to drain and how to make watertight joints then you could try it.

ISOLATE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY.
