Hi, I am new to the forum, I am looking to raise the height of my garage roof. Currently there are wooden beams running horizontally across the width of the garage. To raise the height of the ceiling I would need to remove a portion of these (around a quarter). Are these beams structural? And if so can I alter them to raise the ceiling? If so how easy is this to do? I have added some pictures
Hi timbo1998 You may be able to convert the roof to a collared one but you must get a structural engineer to do calculations to determine the size of the collars and how far up they can be situated. Regards S
